I entered the
MBA program at Georgia State University with the purpose of obtaining knowledge
of business from academia. My
scholastic experience provided me with knowledge of physics, computer science,
and all the core studies offered at a liberal arts university. Since graduating from Oglethorpe University
and working through almost six years of the practical application of computer
technology in the travel industry, I find that it is now my time to understand
the foundations of the real world business.
In moving up through the ranks at Worldspan, from the title of
programmer, to analyst, to project engineer, my professional career brings me
closer to customers and business problems every day. Understanding and applying more processes by which I can improve
upon my and others’ approaches to solutions is my professional goal.
What have I
accomplished and how am I using my personal capabilities to create value?
During almost
six years as an employee at Worldspan, I have mostly enjoyed learning from
others sharing with others. I believe
that both I and the teams with which I work ceaselessly improve our knowledge
and efficiency by working together. Our
internal and external customers remain trusting in our advice and direction. I work diligently to understand processes
and issues and share my findings with everyone involved. The accomplishment that I feel comes from
knowing that I positively contribute to the bottom-line.
Why am I
doing/thinking/being what I am and why should anyone care?
I continue to
strive to do/think/be what I am because I feel satisfaction. My hopes are that others will feel the same
satisfaction. My goals are not
necessarily everyone’s goals, but I hope to contribute to others’ as well.
